Tirza Motivates - AttractionIf you are in any way like me, you are always on the hunt—looking for every opportunity to grow and learn, to connect with people and to develop meaningful business partnerships that can be beneficial to your work and to your connection’s work.

But—I’ve noticed a tendency.

For some people though, this platonic, professionally driven relationship isn’t enough. Strings are attached and other intentions are assumed. Countless women struggle with this very challenge—dealing with some professional men who cannot see beyond a woman’s attraction. I emphasize some men because not every man fits this description. I’m fortunate to be married to one of them and work with many of them. But let’s lay it on the line: when I say men cannot see beyond someone’s attraction, I mean that they are willing to work with you professionally but also wish to pursue you personally.  But the moment you put your foot down and communicate clearly what you will not engage in, it seems that egos get wounded and the seriousness of business is minimized.

Why is this so? Is it because…

  1. We are too attractive?
  2. We are not positioning ourselves properly?
  3. Our professional brand, product or service is not of value to them?
  4. They never really intended to establish an appropriate working relationship?
  5. They are pissed the hell off because they can’t get what they want?

Whatever the reason, ladies, just be sure never to compromise your values, faith, and beliefs. Always maintain a high standard of professionalism, integrity, and character. This means loving yourself enough to walk away from a deal, speaking up about what you will not accept, and not being remorseful because you did. And be confident in the truth that you are an intelligent, attractive powerhouse of a woman who will stop at nothing to protect her character.

What’s for you will be for you. No one person can stop your destiny or prevent you from reaching your goals.

Consider the other person’s resistance a way to prevent you from getting caught up in what could be an unhealthy, toxic partnership and a way out from someone with an ulterior motive.

Ladies—you are more than your attraction! If the men you are working with cannot see beyond that, be comfortable with saying thank you, but no thank you, and all deals are off!
